High Alumina Cement is manufactured by grinding clinkers of calcining bauxite (it’s an aluminium ore) and ordinary lime. In which the total amount of alumina content should not be lesser than 32% and it should maintain the ratio by weight of alumina to the lime between 0.85 to 1.30. Currently these high alumina cement are more popular in countries like United States and United Kingdom.

Advantages of High Alumina Cement:

1. The main advantage is that it can withstand high temperatures, so that it can be used in refractories, foundries and other workshops where high temperatures are involved.

2. The initial setting time is 3 hours than compared to that of ppc cement. And the final setting time of cement is 5 hours.

3. High Alumina Cement evolve great heat when setting so that these cements can be used in colder temperatures.

4. It is highly resistants to even concentrated acids and thereby it is widely used in chemical industries.

5. It sets fast and it attains a strength of 40 N/mm2 in just one day and 50 N/mm2 in three days.

Ceramic fiber is a vacuum formed product that resists higher gas velocities than ceramic fiber blanket,it is ideal for furnace,boiler duct and stack lining due to its low thermal conductivity and low heat storage allowing shorter cycle times and quicker access for maintenance

Calcium silicate is used to insulate high-temperature pipes and equipment and for fire endurance applications

Common Applications
Calcium silicate insulation is typically applied on high-temperature (greater than 250°F) pipe and equipment in industrial facilities, such as chemical plants, refineries, and steam electric power plants. Since it is a rigid material that has a relatively flat thermal conductivity curve, extremely high compressive strength, high flexural strength, a Class A rating for Flame Spread/Smoke Developed, and is noncombustible (ASTM E136), it is widely used in high-temperature, industrial applications subject to physical abuse.

Due to its high compressive strength (greater than 100 psi), high flexural strength (greater than 50 psi), and resistance to damage from tumbling, plus its ability to maintain those properties over time up to its rated 1,200°F, calcium silicate can withstand considerable physical abuse without loss of insulating efficiency. In addition, calcium silicate insulation can withstand vibration induced by high-temperature steam flow around internal pipe obstructions, such as valve internals, measuring devices, and flow restriction orifices.”
